You Have Words Italian v1.3.0

An updated version of You Have Words Italian should now be available in the App Store. This release, version 1.3.0, includes a dictionary update and improved accessibility support to enable word pronunciations to be heard using VoiceOver.

Full details of the changes are below:

Dictionary Update

The English-Italian dictionary has been updated and now contains 1,900 words in 31 topics. Remember that if you find an error in the dictionary you can report it from within the App using the Send Feedback option in the Settings screen.

VoiceOver Support

Apple devices have long had excellent accessibility features. This update ensures that the App can be accessed by all users and in particular it adds full VoiceOver support for the blind and visually impaired. The support for VoiceOver has an additional advantage for all users in that it can be used to hear native word pronunciations. The user guide, accessible from the Settings screen within the App, provides full details on how to use VoiceOver. Check the blog for some further details and examples in the next few days.

Compatibility

This release has been tested with iOS 5.1 on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices. A minimum version of iOS 4.1 is required though it is recommended to upgrade to the latest version of iOS that your device supports. The compact iPad portrait screen layout is only supported with iOS 5.

As was mentioned in the last update supporting older versions of iOS is becoming increasing time consuming. Therefore with this update the minimum version of iOS that is supported has now been changed to require at least iOS 4.1. This means that if you are running iOS 3.x you will not receive this update. The next update is likely to require a minimum of iOS 4.2 so you are strongly recommended to update your device if you are still using an older iOS version.

Feedback

As always you can send feedback directly from within the app using the “Send Feedback” option in the Help section of the Settings screen. Alternatively send your comments, suggestions and corrections to feedback@youhavewords.com.
